Man United offered £60m Real Madrid star.in move that would rock Premier League
But United might have to break the British transfer record again if they want the Colombian midfielder.
Real value Rodriguez, 24, at £60 million, having signed him from Monaco two years ago for £3m more than that.
The offer of Rodriquez was made to the Old Trafford club on Real’s behalf by his agent – the influential Jorge Mendes.
United are now weighing up the proposition for a player who has also been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Juventus.
He’s available at Madrid after losing his starting place, having signed after a successful World Cup two years ago.
The current record signing by a British club is the £59.7 million paid by United two years ago for Angel Di Maria - now in France with Paris St-Germain.
That deal was also done with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo hits 50-goal mark for sixth year running at Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player ever to score 50 goals in all competitions for the sixth straight season on Saturday in Real Madrid's 2-0 win at Deportivo La Coruna.
The Portuguese star opened the scoring after seven minutes in the final La Liga game of the season, then added his 51st goal in the 25th minute of the 2-0 win, though the league title escaped Real Madrid.
The goals give him 35 in the league this season to go with 16 in the Champions League.
He will have one more game to add to his tally on May 28 as Real take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final in Milan.
The 31-year-old will have to overcome a knock suffered in Saturday's game. He left at half-time and manager Zinedine Zidane said he took "a heavy blow to the foot."
Ronaldo has hit the 50-goal mark every season since 2010-11, his second at Real Madrid after moving from Manchester United.
He had 53 that year, then 60, 55 and 51 before hitting a high of 61 last season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic : I know where I'm going next
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suggested he has already decided on his next move after making his final Ligue 1 appearance for Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
The Sweden star, who this week announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, set a new record of 38 goals in a single campaign in the French top flight after scoring twice in PSG's 4-0 win over Nantes.
Ibrahimovic has been linked with a possible move to Premier League, as well as to MLS or Asia, while Adriano Galliani has hinted at a possibility of bringing him back to AC Milan despite concerns over his high wages.
The 34-year-old has now claimed he has a decision on his future in mind after enjoying what he described as "a beautiful night" in which his children came onto the pitch to share in his standing ovation.
"I know what I will do next year but I wouldn't tell you," he said to BeIn Sport. "I am very excited tonight, I've had four fantastic years here. This is a fantastic group, it's even the best group I've played with. I will miss this team.
"We're proud of what we've done. The club will remain in my heart. I hope they will continue [to win] because the project is huge. I'm not worried.
"It was a beautiful night, it was hard to describe what I experienced. I never cry usually, but when I saw my children come on, I had tears in my eyes.
"I am very grateful to the French people. I had to give them the best of myself."
Ibrahimovic later thanked the PSG faithful before lifting the Ligue 1 trophy for the fourth year in a row.
"I'm very emotional today. It was a very special game after four years here," he said to a packed Parc des Princes. "You will remain in my heart. I hope the club continues with this captain and keeps winning a lot without Ibra. It's difficult, but it's possible.
"Thanks to everyone, to Paris, France, myself and my family are very happy."
The truth about Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho
at Man United
And Starsport understands he's got every reason to think he will be the United boss.
He has privately been reassured that he will still be in charge next season.
It means United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward would have to go back on his word to sack Van Gaal, 64, who has a year remaining on his contract.
Jose Mourinho is desperate to replace him but Woodward knows axing the Dutchman will be an admission that he got the appointment wrong.
Van Gaal is bullish in the belief he's going nowhere.
He said yesterday: “You have to believe me that when I am here I am still the man in charge.
"Otherwise I go. Believe me.
"Every club I have done that. You can ask Bayern Munich or Barcelona, also the Dutch Federation.
"So I have the impression that I am still here otherwise I can’t say all the things that I have said.
"But in the football world, you never know, and I have seen that before.”
United take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on Saturday and Van Gaal believes winning that will make the season a succesful one.
He added: “I think success is in the eyes of the man or woman who are seeing that. For everybody it’s different.
"When you have expectations that Manchester United has to be champions, then you’re disappointed.
"But when we qualify ourselves or win a cup, I am satisfied even if in the eyes of some fans, or many fans, that’s not enough because you have to win the Premier League title.”
Manchester United VS Bournemouth abandoned due to security threat
Manchester United have confirmed that their final Premier League match against Bournemouth has been abandoned after a suspicious package was found at Old Trafford.
Around 20 minutes prior to kick-off, United began evacuating both the Stretford End and the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand in response to a security threat.
United subsequently confirmed that the 3pm kick-off was delayed after a ‘suspect package’ was found in the north-west section of the stadium.
But shortly after 3pm, United followed up with an announcement that the match would not go ahead at all on Sunday.
Greater Manchester Police are at Old Trafford with sniffer dogs in an attempt to deal with the threat.
The new date for United's fixture against Bournemouth has yet to be confirmed.
United are currently two points behind Manchester City and require a win over Bournemouth to stand any chance of reaching next season's Champions League.
